Hamka, Haji Abdul Malik Karim Amrullah
Hamka Hamka born on 17 February 1908 [Hijriyah Calender: 13 Muharram 1362] in Minangkabau, Sumatra. He was born as the 1st child of seven brothers and was raised in a family of devout religion implement Islam. His father was Abdul Karim Amrullah, clerical reformer of Islam in Minangkabau is fondly called as Haji Rasul, while his mother, the Sitti Shafiyah, comes from artists in Minangkabau descent. The father of Abdul Karim, grandfather Hamka , namely Muhammad Amrullah known as followers of cleric Congregation Naqsyabandiyah. Prior education in schools, Hamka lived with his grandmother in a house near Maninjau. When he was six years old, he moved with his father to Leopold. As is generally the children of men in Minangkabau, as a child he studied the Koran and sleep in mosque which is around where he lives, because boys Minang didn't have a place in the house.
