Prosperous Justice Party The Prosperous Justice Party ), sometimes called the Justice and Prosperity Party, is a political party in Indonesia. The party is Islamist in the sense that it calls for a central role for Islam in public life. PKS is currently led by Anis Matta. The party was established as the Justice Party on July 20, 1998, with Nurmahmudi Ismail as its 1st president. The Justice Party was reconstituted as the Prosperous Justice Party in April 2002 after the Justice Party failed to meet the required two percent of electoral threshold in the 1999 election that it needed to contest the 2004 election. During the 2004 legislative elections, the PKS won 7.3% of the popular vote and 45 out of 550 seats, making it the seventh-largest party in parliament. This was a gain from the 1.4% received in 1999. Anis Matta H. Muhammad Anis Matta , LC is a Prosperous Justice Party (PKS) Politician. He was the Secretary General of PKS for four consecutive periods (1998 - 2013) before appointed as the party's President, replacing Luthfi Hasan Ishaaq who was convicted of corruption. Anis Matta was born in Bone, South Sulawesi on December 7, 1968. He received undergraduate title of Islamic Sharia from LIPIA in 1992 and on 2001, he enrolled at Lemhannas. Anis's national political career began when he was elected member of the People's Representative Council period 2004-2009. Before he was elected, he was the Secretary General of PKS for two consecutive periods, 2003-2005 and 2005-2010. Anis was the Deputy Speaker of the People's Representative Council period 2009-2014, but he resigned on February 1, 2013.
