Donald Izacus Pandjaitan Donald Izacus Pandjaitan was an Indonesian general who was killed during a kidnap attempt by members of the 30 September Movement. In November 1945, Pandjaitan, together with other young people, helped establish a local branch of the People's Security Army, initially serving as a battalion commander. In March 1948 he was appointed commander of the commander for organization and education of XI/Banteng Division at Bukittinggi, West Sumatra. Not long after, he became 4th deputy commander (supplies) for the Sumatran Army Command, then when the Dutch launched their 2nd "police action" against the republic, he was put in charge of supplies for the Emergency Government of the Republic of Indonesia. After the Dutch recognition of Indonesian sovereignty in 1949, Pandjaitan was posted to the headquarters of the Sumatran Division in Medan, and on 2 January 1950 became head of the operational staff of the I/Bukit Barisan Division. M. T. Haryono Mas Tirtodarmo Haryono was a soldier in the Indonesian Army who was killed during an attempt to kidnap him from his home by members of the 30 September Movement in the early hours of October 1, 1965. Harjono was born in Indonesia's 2nd city, Surabaya, East Java. He was fortunate enough to obtain a standard of education denied to most of his peers, attending an elementary school for European children and then high school in Dutch-occupied Indonesia. When the Japanese invaded, he was sent to a Japanese medical school in Jakarta, but didn't graduate. Haryono was in Jakarta when Indonesia declared independence. Like many Indonesian youths, Haryono joined other youths to fight the Dutch, then joined the TKR, the forerunner of the Indonesian Army. Due to his superior education, he was made a major.
