RCTI RCTI is Indonesia's 1st privately owned television network and is based in West Jakarta. RCTI broadcasts Indonesian Idol as well as sinetron (soap operas), films, news and current affairs, reality shows and religious programs. Its news and current affairs programs include Seputar Indonesia (Around Indonesia) and Buletin Malam (Nightly Bulletin). Presenters include Putra Nababan, Ade Novit, Atika Suri, Desi Anwar, and Helmi Johannes. In November 6, 1988, state broadcaster TVRI lost its monopoly when the government's 6th 4-year plan allowed private television stations to begin broadcasting. RCTI was officially inaugurated on the morning of August 24, 1989 by President Soeharto as Indonesia's 1st privately owned commercial broadcasting terrestrial television network.
