Ponorogo Regency
Ponorogo Regency Ponorogo is a regency of East Java, Indonesia. It is known as the place of birth of one of the traditional Indonesian shows, the Reog Ponorogo. The anniversary of the Ponorogo regency is commemorated every year on 11 August. On 11 August 1496 Bathara Katong, the 1st leader of Ponorogo went from the Old Town to the Central City of Ponorogo. Ponorogo, the birthplace of Reog, is known by the name City Reog as well as by the name of City Rasta. Ponogoro is the home to many boarding schools, in particular, The Pondok Modern Darussalam Gontor, which is located in the village of Gontor. Every year in Sura / Suro, Ponorogo holds a series of events, such as Grebeg Suro, the party of the people.
